Like most people, I wear many hats - husband, father, minister, counselor, musician, composer, runner, Ph.D. candidate, and when life allows, a fly fisherman. Despite all of these things, this site mainly explores my academic side. Since the rest of the site addresses this area, I will expand on my other hats.

As a husband, I have been married to my wife for over 29 years, and we have one daughter with special needs. I was called into the ministry as a teenager and spent several years working in churches as a worship pastor and, when circumstances dictated it, a youth pastor. Although I no longer work in a church, I still see myself as a minister whose primary ministry is counseling. In that capacity, I have spent most of those years as a counselor at Nashville Rescue Mission.

My undergrad work is in music composition (if you are interested in my music, the player on the left has one of my pieces I wrote for wind ensemble), which came in handy as a worship leader. In that role, I learned to play multiple instruments and still break them out on occasion when I need to decompress. When my health cooperates, I enjoy running. When life cooperates, I enjoy fly fishing.
